Adult Patient & Family Advisory Council
In 1997, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's inpatient beds were moved to Brigham and Women's Hospital. Patients and family members, concerned about the changes, wanted to work with staff to protect quality of care and ensure patients' needs were the highest priority.
As a result, the Adult Patient and Family Council was formed, and held its first meeting in January 1998. Key hospital leaders and staff committed their institutions to patient- and family-centered care through the formation of the Council.
Representing the voice of patients and families, the Council is fully recognized by the clinical and administrative staff, and Council members have seats on all major hospital committees.
