A message from Anne Levine, Dana-Farber vice president for External Affairs

Anne Levine

In my role as VP for External Affairs, I collaborate with other senior leaders at Dana-Farber to advocate for legislation that will advance cancer research and treatment. Other NCI-designated cancer centers such as ours and the advocacy groups we work with — including American Association of Cancer Institutes (AACI), Friends of Cancer Research (FoCR), American Cancer Society, and many others — have been very effective in ensuring that programs, policies and funding are aimed at cancer prevention, treatment, research, and survivorship. We have done a lot and will do more, but the message is even more powerful when legislators and other policymakers hear from those who are directly impacted.

That's why I'm so excited that the Patient and Family Advisory Councils have formed the legislative advocacy committee. I applaud your first steps to design a new Web site as one approach to reach out to patients and family members and encourage them to get involved. I am confident that with your active participation, we will be even more effective in our advocacy efforts to reduce the burden of cancer. Thank you for your guidance and your wisdom. I really look forward to working with all of you.
